Role purpose
  • A leading UK institution is seeking a highly motivated Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager to lead the operational management of a high-profile, strategic healthcare partnership. This newly established international academy is the result of a collaboration between UK and Indian healthcare and academic organisations. It aims to deliver clinical and non-clinical training, build research capacity, and provide executive education for health professionals in India.
  • The Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to manage all components of this complex initiative—monitoring progress, reporting on outcomes, and overseeing budgets in line with contractual and philanthropic conditions.
  • A philanthropic donation also supports health engineering research and clinical innovation through PhD and Masters scholarships for students from India in biomedical engineering. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive individual with experience managing and administering philanthropic and education programmes across multiple stakeholders. Knowledge of academic programme structures and experience managing budgets are essential.
Key responsibilities
  • Manage and deliver all aspects of the partnership’s operations to ensure objectives are met, including philanthropic funding and contracting, acting as the main point of contact for all stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the institution and external clinical partners to proactively and independently track and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring progress updates and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Manage the relationship with the donor and their representatives through regular meetings and responsive engagement.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets, ensure timely invoicing, and produce regular financial reports for internal and external review.
  • Establish and maintain risk registers for all aspects of the partnership, ensuring regular monitoring and mitigation.
  • Coordinate and deliver the project’s communication strategy in collaboration with internal and external communications teams.
  • Draft papers, proposals, and policy documents related to the development and operations of the partnership.
  • Ensure all activities comply with institutional and partner policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Independently arrange, support, and manage steering groups and other meetings related to the partnership’s activities.
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to plan, cost, and develop new elements of the partnership.
  • Work with fundraising and alumni engagement teams to plan and deliver impactful annual stewardship for key institutional relationships.
  • Act as secretary to relevant committees and meetings, including arranging meetings, preparing and distributing papers, and reporting outcomes to stakeholders.
Person specification
  • Proven experience in the successful operational management of complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, ideally including education and/or philanthropic initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships through tact and diplomacy to drive outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in hands-on relationship management within multi-stakeholder environments such as large public sector, academic, or healthcare organisations, with the ability to respond quickly to emerging needs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging and style to suit different audiences and stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the UK and international healthcare landscape relevant to the partnership’s objectives.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, manage budgets, and apply robust contract management practices including drafting, reporting, and invoicing.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective programme or project monitoring and reporting systems, resolve issues independently, and maintain accurate risk registers.
  • Experience working with academic programme structures and university operations.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience working in international partnerships, particularly in healthcare or education.
  • Understanding of working with India-based individuals and organisations.
  • Ability to speak conversational Hindi (Marathi or Gujarati an additional advantage).
  • Experience engaging with high net-worth individuals and their representatives.
  • Familiarity with stewardship planning and donor engagement.
