New Role – Senior Specialist, Benefit Operations || Chester
Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Specialist, Benefit Operations to join People Services team. This role is responsible for the execution, administration, and continuous improvement of employee benefits and retirement programmes across assigned EMEA markets.
The successful candidate will ensure the effective day-to-day operation of benefits. programmes including health and welfare, pension/savings plans, wellness initiatives, and vendor management activities while delivering an excellent employee experience.
Location: Chester, UK
Duration: 6-Month Contract
Rate: £22.00 per hour
Work Pattern: Hybrid (50% office / 50% remote) in line with BMS Hybrid Work Policy)
Interview Process: 1 Stage Interview
Languages: Fluent English required; Italian or Spanish preferred
Time : 9:00-5:00pm
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end administration of employee benefits programmes across assigned markets.
- Act as the escalation point for Tier 2 benefits enquiries from employees, HR and key stakeholders.
- Interpret and communicate benefit policies, plans, procedures and programmes accurately.
- Administer benefits processes, including enrolments, eligibility, status changes, terminations and claims.
- Liaise with external vendors, brokers, insurance providers and system partners.
- Maintain provider portals and process monthly changes.
- Review and reconcile benefits reports, integrations and data feeds.
- Manage invoicing and payment processes, including raising purchase orders and validating invoices.
- Monitor service delivery and resolve issues against agreed service standards.
- Support annual enrolment activities and maintain benefits calendars.
- Create and maintain Local Work Instructions (LWIs), process documentation, knowledge articles and training materials.
- Identify and implement process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Assist with benefits audits, compliance activities and risk management initiatives.
- Support system testing, enhancements and implementation of the benefit programme changes.
- Coordinate wellness programme administration and communications.
- Deliver training and knowledge-sharing sessions with HR teams and colleagues.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong experience in Benefits Administration within an HR environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Knowledge of HR policies, employment legislation and benefits regulations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working with international or multi-country teams.
- Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to explain complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Experience
- Experience within an HR Shared Services environment.
- Exposure to Payroll, Talent Acquisition or Performance Management processes.
- Knowledge of HR/Benefits systems such as:
- Workday
- ServiceNow
- Darwin
- Morneau Shepell Ariel
- Experience coaching or mentoring colleagues.
- Additional language skills in Italian or Spanish.
