senior scientist, immunology, single cell transcriptomics, scRNAseq for drug discovery, London biotech

Hays Life Sciences have been exclusively retained by IMU Biosciences to recruit a Senior Scientist to join their lab team.
IMU Biosciences is a fast-growing biotech company pioneering immunology-first approaches to a variety of therapeutic areas. With a highly collaborative environment and cutting-edge technologies, they are building a platform that transforms how immune-driven diseases are understood and treated.
This is a hands-on, lab-focused role based at their site near Canary Wharf, where you will play a critical part in running single-cell assays and ensuring the smooth operation of their experimental pipeline.

Key Responsibilities
  • Run and troubleshoot single-cell RNA sequencing assays.
  • Experimental design for early-stage discovery projects.
  • Manage day-to-day lab operations, ensuring samples are processed and assays delivered on time.
  • Oversee lab logistics including ordering, budgeting, and maintaining workflows.
  • Collaborate with CROs, external partners, and internal discovery/data science teams.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior lab members as the team expands.
  • Contribute to assay development and automation projects as opportunities arise.
  • Communicate effectively across cross-functional teams to support immunology-focused research.

Key Skills & Experience
  • Proven hands-on experience with single-cell transcriptomics assays (RNA Seq essential), using platforms such as 10x, Parse, or similar.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to independently drive experiments to completion.
  • Background or interest in immunology, with a preference for candidates who have worked within drug discovery / development.
  • Experience in lab management or supervision (formal line management not required) would be a distinct advantage.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and self-motivation in a fast-paced biotech environment.
  • Experience with automated systems would be valuable, as would exposure to dealing with CROs or external collaborators, but this is not essential.

Why Join IMU Biosciences?
  • Be part of a small, dynamic team where your work directly impacts cutting-edge immunology research.
  • Work closely with leading scientists in a highly collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Opportunity to grow with a company at the forefront of immune-driven disease research and develop experience in multiple areas.

If you’re a hands-on scientist with expertise in single-cell transcriptomics and a passion for immunology, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today through Hays Life Sciences to take the next step in your career.
