Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in generating the evidence that shapes regulatory policy within a complex and evolving pensions and financial services (B2B) landscape.

As a Senior Research Analyst, you will lead the design and delivery of high-quality, hypothesis-led research that informs strategic decision-making and regulatory priorities. Working at Senior Analyst / SEO level, you will tackle complex, often ambiguous policy questions, producing robust insight that directly influences senior stakeholders.

Working within a multidisciplinary research and analysis team, you will deliver end-to-end research projects, from methodology design through to analysis and insight generation. A key part of the role will be ensuring research findings are communicated clearly and persuasively, translating evidence into outputs that land with impact.

This role is ideal for candidates with a strong grounding in applied research, particularly those with agency, consultancy or public sector experience, and an interest in industry behaviour and behavioural change within regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, commissioning and delivery of end-to-end primary research projects across the organisation
  • Apply a range of quantitative and qualitative research methods to generate robust, policy-relevant evidence
  • Conduct independent analysis, including statistical testing, qualitative coding and data visualisation
  • Translate complex findings into clear, compelling insights that inform senior stakeholders and decision-making
  • Manage relationships with external research agencies, ensuring high-quality outputs and value for money
  • Work collaboratively with policy, economics and strategy teams in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Act as a technical expert to support research quality and methodological rigour across the organisation
  • Mentor and support junior analysts, contributing to capability building within the team
  • Identify evidence gaps and contribute to future research priorities and strategic direction

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject (e.g. social research methods) or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience independently designing and delivering hypothesis-led research end-to-end
  • Strong understanding of quantitative and/or qualitative research methods (mixed methods preferred)
  • Experience operating within agency, consultancy or public sector research environments
  • Background in B2B or stakeholder-focused research (non-consumer)
  • Proficiency in research analysis, including statistical testing (e.g. T-tests, chi-squared) and qualitative techniques
  • Experience managing research projects and external agencies/suppliers
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex evidence into impactful outputs
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders in multidisciplinary teams

Desirable

  • Experience working within or alongside the pensions, financial services or regulatory sectors
  • Interest or experience in behavioural research and behaviour change
  • Experience managing high-value research procurement
  • Experience using survey platforms with complex routing
  • Familiarity with recognised social research frameworks and standards

Person Specification

  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence and engage senior audiences
  • Proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Able to work effectively in complex, fast-paced environments
  • Collaborative and supportive team player
  • Comfortable managing competing priorities and delivering at pace

The Team

You’ll join a supportive and collaborative research and analysis function working at the heart of regulatory decision-making. The team works closely with policy, strategy, economics and operational colleagues, providing high-quality evidence to inform key decisions.

The organisation offers:

  • Genuine opportunities for learning and professional development
  • A values-led, inclusive culture
  • Hybrid working and flexible arrangements
  • A vibrant workplace supported by employee networks (e.g. Disability, Family, LGBT+, Minority Ethnic, Women’s)
