Your new role


  • Manage design projects and develop new products for the company and recommend appropriate timing for introduction to the market.
  • Manage projects through from concept, design, support build and installation.
  • Co-ordinate with colleagues to support the sales team with technical specifications, site visits and technical advice throughout the process.
  • Meet regularly with the Engineering Manager and Design Team to ensure effective communication of information relative to potential business improvement initiatives.
  • Produce project status reports and other information as required by the Management Team to inform financial, sales and operational planning.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to improve product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Co-ordinate with other departments relative to Engineering Design.
  • Follow all Company processes relating to equipment design.
  • Contribute to the company’s continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to work on and oversee multiple projects at any one time.
  • Check and approve drawings using design processes, procedures and checklists.
  • Resolve design quality issues as they arise, managing the design and provide detailed solutions.
  • Develop and train Design Engineers in design office processes and procedures.
  • Uphold the Core Values of the company and work to achieve the wider organisational objectives as detailed in the Corporate Plan.
  • Achieve high standards of personal performance, through meeting agreed personal targets and undertaking training as required.
  • Fulfil the legal Health and Safety duties placed on employees by:

    • -Taking reasonable care of your own health & safety and that of others who may be affected by what you do or do not do;

    • -Co-operating with the company on Health & Safety matters;

    • -Ensuring that you use work items provided by the company correctly and in accordance with the training and instruction received, including personal protective equipment (PPE);

    • -Ensuring that you do not interfere with or misuse anything provided for health, safety, or welfare purposes.

  • Comply with all the company’s policies and procedures.

  • Maintain high standards of personal accountability.

  • Perform any other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience and/or training.


What you'll need to succeed

Good standard of education (to include English and Maths) with 5 years design experience gained in a manufacturing environment/quarry and recycling equipment OR
Educated to a degree in an Engineering discipline with 4 years design experience gained in a manufacturing environment/quarry and recycling equipment
  • Experience with CAD design
  • Product Development experience
  • Project Management experience
  • Solid Works or Pro/Engineer experience
  • Awareness of relevant safety standards
  • Manufacturing process awareness
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including effective presentation and influencing skills
  • Excellent analytical, innovative and problem-solving abilities
  • Solution focused, with the ability to work on your own initiative
  • Ability to be creative and innovative
  • Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work un-supervised and as part of a team
  • Ability to achieve thoroughness and accuracy
  • IT literate and competent in the use of Microsoft Office, ie. Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Ability to work flexible hours and to travel as required to ensure business needs are met
  • Current driving licence and vehicle available for business use
