Newry-based Senior Quantity Surveyor

Your new company

A well-established Newry-based construction Contractor founded almost 20 years ago, delivering high-quality commercial and community-focused schemes including leisure centres, sports facilities, educational buildings, and film studios across Northern Ireland. The company maintains a solutions-based, collaborative approach with clients, design teams, and supply chains, prioritising cost-efficiency, health compliance, and quality control.

Your new role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take a leadership position, overseeing cost management from pre-construction through to final account on medium-to-large build projects. You will work closely with project teams to safeguard margins, ensure contractual compliance, and manage stakeholder relationships in alignment with the company’s ethos of transparency and collaboration. Excellent communication, stakeholder liaison, and team leadership skills are required, along with a proven ability to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to high quality and health & safety standards.

What you'll need to succeed

You should have extensive experience as a Quantity Surveyor within contracting environments, preferably in commercial or community sector projects. You will be experienced in estimating and manage the full cost control cycle including forecasting, tendering, procurement, cost reporting, and final account reconciliation. You will administer contracts, prepare and evaluate tenders, negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers, and handle variations and claims. Monthly interim payment applications and cost value reconciliation will be part of your remit, along with monitoring cash flow and producing commercial reports for senior stakeholders. You will identify and manage commercial risks, propose cost-effective solutions, and drive value-engineering initiatives. Collaboration with planning, site, and health & safety teams will be essential to align commercial and operational objectives.

What you'll get in return

You will receive a competitive day-rate with potential for extension, the opportunity to work on high-profile projects that enhance local communities, and a supportive, collaborative culture. Flexible working arrangements are available, including the option to work from home when not required on-site.
