Senior Property Lawyer (6months)

Your new company

Join a progressive and collaborative organisation where legal expertise drives strategic property decisions. Our Legal Team supports a diverse property portfolio, working across social, affordable, and commercial housing. We operate in a regulated environment and are committed to delivering high-quality, pragmatic legal solutions that support our mission and values.

Your new role

A Senior Property Lawyer, you’ll provide expert, non-contentious legal advice on a wide range of property matters. You’ll manage a varied caseload, support internal teams, and oversee commercial lease terms and documentation. Around 30–40% of your week will involve sign and seal responsibilities, requiring office presence on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Advising on property ownership, title, leasehold/freehold issues, and disputes.

  • Drafting and managing commercial leases, licences, and conveyancing documents.

  • Supporting Care and Support teams with property use and decommissioning.

  • Handling easements, wayleaves, and post-disposal legal work.

  • Advising on development projects and property portfolio reviews.

  • Acting as an authorised signatory and instructing external solicitors.

  • Overseeing commercial portfolio terms and standard lease documentation.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Law degree or CILEx qualification.

  • Ideally 5–10years PQE as a solicitor.

  • Experience in regulated environments such as local government, housing associations, or the civil service.

  • Strong knowledge of social rent, affordable and market rent, and commercial property.

  • Experience setting up developments and plots and understanding sign and seal processes.

  • Excellent time management, attention to detail, and ability to manage a high caseload.

  • A pragmatic, solution-focused mindset with a personable and approachable style.

What you'll get in return

  • A key role in a respected and collaborative Public sector legal team.

  • Potential for flexible working hours

  • Hybrid working: 2–3 days in the office, with Tuesdays and Wednesdays required.

  • Competitive salary with flexibility based on experience.

  • Opportunities for professional development, management and meaningful work.
