Senior Project Director | Central Government | (accountancy, company law or financial regulation exp req.)

Your new role:
The Senior Project Director supports the Director in developing the organisations strategy and delivery of the technical work agenda, to agreed timescales, to ensure the organisation can effectively deliver its statutory functions.

Key accountabilities are:
This role involves leading the delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring timely submission of papers to the Board, effective presentation at Board meetings, and adherence to project deadlines and due process. It includes direct line management of team members, supporting their development, and working with the Director and senior Secretariat colleagues to manage the team and shape its culture in line with the principles of transparency, accountability, independence, and thought leadership. The role also requires building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including active engagement with IFRS Foundation and IASB staff, and may involve chairing advisory working groups. A key focus is fostering collaborative, joined-up ways of working across the team.

The Person:
Essential:

• Knowledge and understanding of the wider public interest issues that arise from the Board's work in influencing and adopting IFRS accounting standards for use in the UK.
• Capacity to comprehend and articulate technical accounting matters to a range of stakeholders.
• A good understanding of the due processes of the international accounting standard-setting process and related organisations.
• Able to analyse complex issues and identify salient concerns and solutions
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating respect for others and able to establish credibility, and to work effectively and influence assertively, at senior levels.
• Ability to manage staff effectively and to work collaboratively with team members and external stakeholders.
• Able to manage complex projects, including setting and meeting deadlines and managing working groups.

Desirable:

• A sound understanding of the function of financial reporting in capital markets.
• Educated to a degree level with a professional or post-degree qualification, with extensive experience post-qualification in a relevant field, e.g. accountancy, company law or financial regulation.
• Commercial awareness and political sensitivity.
• Demonstrable experience of engaging successfully and confidently with external stakeholders at a senior level.
• Self-motivated individual who is confident, committed, enthusiastic and energetic.
• A passion to secure the public interest.
• Able to be both firm and diplomatic.
• Flexible and collaborative.
• Resilient and confident in managing competing demands.
• Willing and demonstrably able to act with integrity and impartiality, independent of any individual or collective stakeholder interest.
• Able to foster a team environment and to develop and mentor staff members.

This role offers hybrid working and requires three days per week in the London office. Additionally, the post requires some travel abroad, depending on business needs.
