Senior Procurement Business Partner is required for this exciting Public Procurement opportunity.

Your new company

Are you an experienced procurement professional ready to step into a role where you can shape strategy, influence senior leaders, and deliver major commercial outcomes? This is a rare opportunity to join a forward-thinking, values-driven public sector organisation at a pivotal point in its procurement transformation.

Your new role

This organisation has an ambitious executive leadership team and a newly appointed Head of Procurement who is building a strong, modern, insight-led procurement function. As a Senior Procurement Business Partner, you will play a central role in elevating procurement’s influence, driving improved commercial decision-making, and leading some of the organisation’s most high profile, high value projects—often ranging from £50m to £100m.
You’ll act as a strategic adviser to Directors and Service Leads, shaping business cases, challenging procurement approaches, and leading end-to-end delivery across a diverse portfolio of goods, works and services.
This is not a “procurement police” role. The organisation has moved decisively towards a business partnering model where procurement is at the forefront of decision-making and recognised for the value it brings.

What You’ll Lead

Delivery of major, complex, high risk procurement and commissioning projects.
Development and implementation of category strategies using insight, market intelligence and commercial acumen.
Influencing senior stakeholders and shaping strategic direction.
Embedding best practice, compliance and continuous improvement across the council’s procurement activity.
Acting as a trusted partner throughout the commissioning cycle—from business case development through to award.

You will also be empowered with a high degree of autonomy—enabled to innovate, introduce new ideas, and directly influence outcomes across some of the largest directorates.

What you'll need to succeed

Strong public sector procurement experience—local government, NHS, central government or wider public bodies.
CIPS Level 6 (required).
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills—able to persuade, challenge and influence at senior levels.
Experience delivering significant savings, improved outcomes or measurable value.
Knowledge of public procurement regulations—PCR15 or familiarity with the Procurement Act 2023 (or willingness to quickly adapt).
Category management expertise, and the confidence to lead and mentor others.

Opportunity to join a well-established organisation with dynamic leadership, clear vision, and a strong commitment to social value—supported by a dedicated Social Value Officer and one of the earliest adopters of social value-led procurement.

What you'll get in return

Hybrid working with only one day per week is typically required on site.
Up to one month per year working abroad.
Flexible working built into contracts.
