About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior or Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic and growing consultancy team based in Cambridgeshire. This is an exciting opportunity to lead innovative building services projects across a diverse portfolio, including commercial, residential, healthcare, and education sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical design from concept through to completion, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
  • Manage and mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Liaise with clients, architects, and other stakeholders, providing technical guidance and ensuring seamless project delivery.
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and quality control, ensuring deliverables meet or exceed expectations.
  • Contribute to business development, including proposal writing, fee estimation, and client presentations.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and sustainable design practices.
Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards it.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical design within the building services sector.
  • Strong knowledge of UK building regulations, CIBSE guidelines, and sustainability standards (e.g., BREEAM, LEED).
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, IES, and Hevacomp.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
