Senior / Principal Design Engineer – Building Services (Mechanical or Electrical)

About the Role
We’re seeking a dynamic Senior or Principal Design Engineer to join our expanding Building Services team in Cambridge. Whether your expertise lies in mechanical or electrical design, this role offers the opportunity to lead high-impact projects, mentor rising talent, and shape the future of sustainable building design.

️ Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and delivery of complex building services projects across various sectors (commercial, education, healthcare, etc.)
  • Provide technical leadership and quality assurance throughout the design lifecycle
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering growth and technical development
  • Contribute to resource planning, fee proposals, and strategic decision-making
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and drive innovation in sustainable design practices
What We’re Looking For
  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in building services design and project delivery
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with a passion for mentoring
  • Chartered status (or working towards) with CIBSE, IMechE, or IET preferred
  • Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, IES, Dialux)
  • A proactive mindset and a desire to contribute to a growing, purpose-driven organisation
