Market Operations Business Analyst (Contract)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Market Operations Business Analyst to join a leading investment bank’s Operations function on a 12-month contract. This role sits at the heart of a major transformation programme, supporting the migration from legacy platforms to strategic systems

You will play a key role in bridging Operations, Technology, and Project teams while helping shape future-state processes across front-to-back trade lifecycles.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support Operations through a large-scale systems migration and transformation programme
  • Analyse current-state processes and define future-state operating models to accommodate increased trade volumes
  • Act as the interface between SMEs and Technology teams, translating business requirements into clear deliverables
  • Produce and maintain process maps and workflow documentation (e.g. Visio)
  • Ensure Operations readiness for testing, coordinating UAT alongside BAU activity
  • Contribute to best practice design across settlements, cash management, and collateral processes
  • Work closely with stakeholders across Front Office, Middle Office, and Operations to ensure full alignment
  • Track and manage issues, working with tools such as JIRA
Required Experience
  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst within Capital Markets Operations
  • Strong knowledge of securities settlements (bonds/repo) and cash forecasting
  • Understanding of collateral management and front-to-back trade lifecycle processes
  • Demonstrated ability in requirements gathering and process modelling
  • Experience with data mapping, system integration, and migration projects
  • Comfortable working closely with IT and challenging technical solutions where needed
  • Experience supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Familiarity with JIRA or similar issue management tools
  • Self-starter able to operate effectively within an in-flight programme
Desirable
  • Experience with Murex, Gloss, or similar trading/operations platforms
  • Broad understanding of multi-asset operations (FI, Equities, Derivatives, Financing)
