Senior Licensing Enforcement Officer - Yate

Hays is working in partnership with a well-established public sector organisation based in Yate. They are now seeking a Team Leader to oversee a small team within their Licencing & Regulatory Services function. This is a key leadership role offering a mix of strategic oversight and operational delivery.
Your new role
You’ll be responsible for managing a team of up to five staff members, ensuring the effective delivery of licensing and regulatory services. The role is hybrid, with two days based in the office and one day dedicated to site visits. Flexibility is essential, as occasional out-of-hours work may be required (around twice a month). You’ll play a vital role in service development, compliance, and team support.
Key responsibilities will include:- It will be your responsibility to manage a small team of Licensing Officers, providing support, guidance and development.
- It will be key for you to provide specialist knowledge and advice to colleagues, local business, and members of the community.
- Under the guidance of the Licensing Services Manager, you will undertake frontline operational work including inspections, evidence gathering and preparing prosecution files and witness statements.
- Using your experience and knowledge, you will contribute towards the development of processes, procedures and policies, ensuring a high level of service is maintained.
- You will prepare reports for committees and attend hearings and meetings, including court, where required.
- Occasionally, you will work within the local community outside of office hours.
Salary: £43,693 - £46,731.

What you'll need to succeed
- We require you to have licencing experience and can demonstrate a knowledge of regulations and licensing enforcement.- You will have experience in leadership, management or mentoring, in a regulatory function.
- You must be able to manage the workload of the team, prioritising and responding to demands to ensure both customer satisfaction and legislative requirements are met.
- It is essential you can communicate effectively and engage with a range of audiences, as at times you may be dealing with challenging
situations.
- Given the elements of this role, you need to have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
