Senior HR Advisor to join a busy HR team in Winchester, Hampshire

Are you an experienced HR professional with a background in employer relations seeking a new challenge?

We have an opportunity for a Senior HR Advisor (Employer Relations) to join a team who provides comprehensive HR guidance and support to senior management teams across sites in the Hampshire area. This role is a fixed-term contract to start ASAP, ideally in December through to 31st August 2026. The role is hybrid with 1 day per week on site in Winchester and then the requirement to travel to sites across Hampshire when needed for key meetings.

What you’ll do:
  • Manage a varied caseload of complex employee relations from 10 to 20 cases involving a range of issues including grievance, disciplinary, performance, capability, investigations, dismissal, absence, gross misconduct, safeguarding and ill health.
  • Provide advice 1 day per week on the ER Helpdesk service, which covers a wide variety of HR/ER complexities.
  • Ensure employment decisions align with legislation, policies, and best practice.
  • As part of your portfolio of work, you will also handle change management activities to include restructures, redundancy and TUPE transfers.
  • Build strong relationships with schools and visit them when required.
About you:
Were seeking an experienced HR professional who is resilient and confident in approach to working with senior stakeholders.
You will need a background of working in complex, ideally unionised environments.
Experience of handling a volume of employer relations cases and providing effective advice to managers in a consultative way.
  • CIPD qualified (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and challenge.
  • Excellent organisational and IT skills.
The Offer
  • Fixed term to start asap through to 31st August 2026 on initial contract
  • Hybrid Working – 1 day per week on site in Winchester + 4 from home
  • Hours - 9 to 5 Mon to Thurs, 9 to 4.30 on Friday
  • Full time 37 hours, but will possibly consider 30 hours per week, but full-time preferred.
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays. (pro rata to FTC)
