Your new company 
A well-known public sector organisation based in the Brighton area, offers hybrid working with 6 days per month required in the office. You must be available to attend any relevant in-person board and committee meetings in Brighton.
This is a 6-month interim assignment.
Your new role
You will be responsible for shaping and delivering high-impact governance and secretariat services across several senior decision-making committees and subcommittees. You will be accountable for driving governance and operational effectiveness and enabling strategic alignment across committee functions.
Your role is responsible for implementing operational procedures, supporting compliance with regulatory standards and legal requirements, and embedding continuous improvement in committee operations, to ensure alignment with the wider strategic governance framework and standards.

Your new role

- Oversee the planning, coordination, and operational delivery of meetings, ensuring governance standards and procedural compliance are consistently met.
- Lead the team in providing high-quality governance support, strategic advice, management and governance excellence to the various committees.
- Ensure effective governance is maintained and provide assurance and compliance with the relevant procedures and applicable laws.
- Lead, manage, and oversee the team in providing effective support to the Panel, its Chair, and individual members.
- Act as Deputy Head of Corporate Governance as needed, supporting key tasks and accountabilities
- Build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of senior stakeholders, facilitating effective collaboration and communication.
- Maintain and co-ordinate reviews of key policies and procedures
- Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives for governance committees and frameworks.
- Monitor changes in relevant legislation and the regulatory environment and take action accordingly.
- You will need to have previously supported with Governance and CoSec requirements at board level and have excellent minute taking experience gained in a highly regulated environment/the civil service. You should have end-to-end experience of managing the board cycle.
- You will need a flexible approach as you will be required to take on various tasks at short notice by a number of senior stakeholders.
- You will ideally have team management experience and excellent communication skills.
- You may also hold a Corporate Governance qualification or a Company Secretarial qualification.
- If you have previous experience of the Convene portal, that would be a bonus.
