Their Building Design Practice is expanding and seeking a Senior Fire Engineer to contribute to a wide range of projects across sectors such as Cities & Development, Commercial, Energy, Residential, and Transportation. With flexibility in location, preferred offices include Bristol, Epsom, Glasgow, London, or Derby.

Your new role

As the Senior Fire Engineer, you’ll lead and support fire engineering design solutions across diverse sectors. You’ll manage multiple projects from inception to delivery, ensuring compliance with fire safety standards and codes. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Work in a range of sectors, from residential buildings through to rail transportation or new energy facilities.
  • Manage multiple engineering projects from inception through to delivery in support of fire safety standards and codes.
  • Support the delivery of project work within time and cost budgets.
  • Keep up to date with regulations and legislation.
  • Developing fire engineering solutions on projects and ensuring the fire engineering strategy delivered.
  • Assess fire-related risks in projects and working collaboratively to mitigate where possible.
  • Review and comment on the quality of fire safety related installations.
  • Undertake tenders for new work.
  • Prepare reports, take part in design team meetings, and liaise with client representatives as required.

What you'll need to succeed

To thrive in this role, you should have:
  • Engineering degree, preferably fire engineering or alternatively, a postgraduate qualification in fire engineering (Applicants with different backgrounds also considered).
  • Demonstrate a strong record of successfully delivering fire safety projects – experience in other sectors strongly considered.
  • Experience working with a range of fire standards including BS9999, NFPA 130, BS9992,
  • EN45545 would be beneficial.
  • Fire modelling experience will be beneficial.
  • Experience outside of the building sector would be advantageous.
  • Able to work towards Chartered Fire Engineer status.
  • A flexible approach to the working environment.
  • Willingness to travel will be a positive advantage.
  • Good commercial awareness.
