Your new role

As a Senior Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in leading and developing a small team within a major rail project.
You’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading assurance on contractor estimates and supporting cost validation.
  • Producing high-level order-of-magnitude estimates and progressing to first-principle estimates as projects evolve.
  • Working across multiple disciplines and packages, with a proactive approach to learning and development.
  • Independently completing detailed take-offs using UK-standard methods of measurement (RMM1, CESMM4).
  • Applying estimating software to deliver accurate and comprehensive cost models.
  • Understanding and applying indirect costs and associated fees to build complete estimates.
  • Engaging with stakeholders including engineers, clients, and authorities to ensure robust cost planning.
  • Reviewing outputs from junior estimators and providing mentorship and guidance.
  • Writing clear and concise basis-of-estimate reports for director-level review.
  • Benchmarking estimates against market data to support client assurance.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience in estimating within rail, civils, or major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of consultancy roles and the purpose of budgetary estimates.
  • Advanced proficiency in RMM1, CESMM4, and estimating software.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to travel to London and/or Birmingham up to 3 days per week.
