Senior Estimator required to work for a civil/highways contractor in and around London.

Your new company

We are currently working with a family run business with over 25 years’ experience as an established utility and reinstatement company, specialising in surfacing, civil construction and tailored reinstatement services. Their mission is “to be the preferred choice in our field by adding value to our business partners without compromise to quality, safety or the environment.” Due to the growth of the business, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join their expanding Infrastructure team. It's an exciting time to join the group, as they are in a major scale-up phase with turnover set to DOUBLE in the next 3 years.

A look at your new job

You will be tasked with undertaking Cost Estimating procedures and Bid Writing within the civils sector and, while liaising with subcontractors and local authorities, manage the measurement of multiple contracts, material take-offs and build-up of rates. Perhaps most importantly, you will manage the procurement of subcontractors and the securing of new work. You will be working closely with other senior managers and Directors within the group who will provide you with full support to achieve continued growth.

What you'll need to succeed

In an ideal world, you will already be an Estimator or QS with extensive estimating experience with working knowledge within the civil engineering/groundworks sector, within a UK Contractor or Local Authority. Experience and contact with tier 1 contractors and local authorities is a major advantage. You will also need to have good knowledge of construction working methods, contracts and subcontract arrangements. Lastly, if you have knowledge of Term Maintenance Contracts, this is also highly advantageous.

You will also need to be numerate, a clear communicator and a team player. Being willing to commute to meet clients, suppliers and subcontractors is also important.

You will also need a full UK driving licence.

What you'll get in return

You'll be working for one of the fastest growing independent civil and highways contractors in and around London. They can offer a generous competitive salary that comes with further remuneration package, free onsite parking, a supportive working environment and learning and development opportunities. Perhaps the most enticing part of joining our client is the opportunity for growth. You'll become an integral part of their team, with the possibility over the next few years of developing your own commercial team.
