They work across sectors including commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, mixed‑use developments and large‑scale infrastructure, providing full MEP design, energy modelling, building performance services and technical advisory support. Their work is heavily focused on low‑carbon design, efficient energy strategies and supporting clients toward Net Zero targets.

Your new role

This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer to join a respected consultancy’s Glasgow engineering team. The role involves contributing to the full lifecycle of building services projects - from feasibility and early‑stage concept development through to detailed technical design, installation coordination and project completion. You will work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver innovative, sustainable electrical engineering solutions for a wide variety of projects across multiple sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop electrical building services designs, including lighting, power distribution, life‑safety systems and energy‑efficient solutions.
  • Produce technical calculations, reports, drawings and specifications in line with industry standards.
  • Support feasibility studies, design reviews, energy assessments and modelling‑related work where applicable.
  • Coordinate with internal mechanical and sustainability specialists, external design teams, contractors and clients.
  • Assist in ensuring designs comply with relevant regulations, energy targets and best‑practice guidance.
  • Contribute to project planning, documentation control and design stage management across multiple projects.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Prior experience in electrical building services design within the consultancy or construction environment.
  • Competency in industry design software (such as AutoCAD, Amtech, NBS or similar); experience with Revit is beneficial.
  • Strong written, numerical and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A proactive, flexible approach with commitment to technical quality and sustainable design.
  • Full, permanent right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).

What you'll get in return

  • Competitive salary with structured annual review.
  • Annual performance‑related bonus.
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Pension scheme and life assurance.
  • Access to healthcare schemes and employee discount programmes.
  • Opportunities for professional development, training and career progression within a growing engineering team.
