Your new company

A well-established and expanding environmental consultancy is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join their dynamic team. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality ecological services, this consultancy supports a wide range of projects — from residential and commercial developments to major infrastructure schemes.

You’ll be part of a collaborative team of over 20 consultants, working with clients across sectors including planning, architecture, engineering, and local government.


Your new role

In this role you will be required to:

  • Lead and mentor junior ecologists
  • Manage client relationships and project delivery
  • Conduct ecological surveys and assessments (e.g. UKHab, protected species, EIAs)
  • Provide technical advice to clients and internal teams
  • Prepare ecological reports and management plans
  • Liaise with stakeholders and regulatory bodies
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and best practice


What you'll need to succeed

  • Passionate about ecology and environmental conservation
  • Experienced in habitat and protected species surveys
  • Skilled in botanical identification – desirable
  • Holds a degree in ecology or a related field
  • Licenced for at least one protected species (e.g. bats, dormouse, GCN, barn owl)
  • Proficient in QGIS or ArcGIS (desirable)
  • Strong report writing and communication skills
  • Confident leading field teams and managing projects
  • Flexible and comfortable working in remote locations and during unsociable hours
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIEEM) - desirable
