Permanent Senior Contract Accountant job

Your new company

Hays are working with a well-known organisation in the Rednal area who are looking for a progressive Senior Contract Accountant to join their busy finance team on a full-time permanent basis.


Your new role

  • Partner with stakeholders to guide financial decisions.
  • Attend site and client meetings.
  • Provide financial analysis to support operations.
  • Identify and manage financial risks from contracts and performance.
  • Monitor balance sheet risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare reports (e.g. month-end, budgets, client reviews).
  • Train operational teams on financial reporting.
  • Review balance sheets and escalate issues.
  • Improve cash flow through accurate billing and debt management.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial presentations.
  • Assist with client tenders and capital expenditure planning.
  • Help operational teams during project mobilisation.
  • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed.
  • Collaborate effectively within teams.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior team members and support training.

What you'll need to succeed


Essential:
  • Actively studying Accountant in CIMA/ACCA/ACA or the like with good experience in accounting roles (CIMA: Strategic Level or ACCA: Strategic Professional Modules)
  • Experience of management accounting inclusive of accounting adjustments, producing reports/analysis to support commercial decision-making
  • Analytical and with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Experience of business partnering non-finance professionals to support the delivery of sound financial information
  • Experience of SAP and Cognos as analysis and reporting tools
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to communicate oral and written information concisely and logically – to both finance and non-finance people
  • Pro-active and energetic approach
  • Ability to analyse and evaluate information concisely
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to influence internal and external parties
  • Self-motivated with an ability to effectively plan and organise own work
  • Ability to take on a broad spectrum of work under pressure and to deliver in agreed timescales
