Your new role
As a Senior Communications Officer in the News & External Affairs team, you will be right at the heart of the action, crafting messages that matter, responding to media enquiries, and helping to tell stories that inform and inspire. You will be working across a wide range of topics, from promoting research to managing crisis communications. Whether it’s writing press releases, briefing journalists, or creating content for digital channels, you’ll be using your skills to make complex information accessible and engaging.
You will also be supporting internal communications, advising colleagues on strategy, and helping to build strong relationships with stakeholders across government, the third sector, and the wider public. It’s a varied, fast-paced role where no two days are the same, and where your ability to stay calm under pressure and think strategically will be key.What you'll need to succeed
You will bring solid experience in media relations, journalism, public relations or marketing communications, along with a flair for writing and a sharp eye for detail. You’ll be comfortable handling sensitive and high-profile issues, and confident in your ability to turn technical information into clear, compelling messages. You will be someone who’s proactive, collaborative, and genuinely passionate about the power of good communication.
