Job Summary:

Our client, a leading UK organisation operating within a highly regulated industry, is seeking a Senior Commercial Manager with a focus on manufacturing. The role will involve developing a comprehensive commercial make/buy strategy aimed at evaluating the value proposition of outsourcing existing production activities or investing in new on-site production facilities. This is a pivotal position, offering the opportunity to influence significant strategic decisions within a highly technical environment. The successful candidate will have strong commercial acumen, extensive experience in managing manufacturing operations, and the ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams to drive commercial decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a robust make/buy strategy to assess whether to outsource production or invest in a new production facility.
  • Conduct detailed cost-benefit analysis to support decision-making, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives.
  • Lead the identification and evaluation of potential external suppliers or manufacturing partners.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, procurement, and finance teams to drive the implementation of the selected strategy.
  • Prepare and present business cases and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Manage contract negotiations and relationships with external suppliers, ensuring value for money and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee the commercial aspects of any new facility investment, ensuring cost control and adherence to project timelines.

Ideal Candidate:
•Proven experience in commercial management within a manufacturing environment, ideally in a highly regulated industry.
•Strong understanding of make/buy analysis and the factors influencing outsourcing versus in-house production.
•Experience in managing complex supplier relationships, contracts, and negotiations.
•Demonstrable experience in leading cross-functional teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
•Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to build compelling business cases.
•Excellent communication and presentation skills.
•Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
•MCIPS Qualified (Not essential)
