Senior CDM Principal Designer

Hays is recruiting for an experienced and driven Senior CDM Principal Designer to join a growing Construction Health & Safety team based in Leeds. This is a fantastic opportunity to take a lead role in delivering CDM duties across a diverse portfolio of construction projects, from residential and commercial to complex infrastructure.

You’ll be instrumental in embedding health and safety into the design process and ensuring full compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

Your new role

Act as Principal Designer under CDM 2015 across multiple sectors including healthcare, education, commercial, and residential.
Lead the coordination of design risk management, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to identify and mitigate risks.
Provide expert advice to clients on their legal duties under CDM and other relevant health and safety legislation.
Compile and manage Pre-Construction Information and the Health and Safety File.
Facilitate and lead design risk review meetings and workshops.
Mentor junior team members and contribute to the development of internal capability.
Support business development activities including client engagement and bid preparation.
Conduct site visits to assess compliance and provide practical guidance.

What You'll Need to Succeed

NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent qualification).
Demonstrable experience acting as a CDM Principal Designer on medium to large-scale projects.
Strong understanding of CDM 2015 and wider construction health and safety legislation.
Confident communicator with the ability to lead meetings and influence stakeholders.
Experience preparing CDM documentation such as risk registers and H&S files.
Strong organisational and time management skills.

This role offers a competitive salary of £50,000–£60,000 DOE with an opportunity to work on large-scale, challenging projects.
