Senior Business Analyst required for a large Belfast-based organisation
Overview
A leading energy distribution organisation is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to provide expert analytical support across regulatory affairs and strategic business projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong commercial acumen, stakeholder engagement experience, and a passion for driving innovation and compliance in a regulated environment.
Your new role
- Support the assessment and implementation of statutory, legislative, and regulatory obligations across the energy distribution business.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders including regulators, consumer bodies, suppliers, and network operators.
- Contribute to the design, testing, and rollout of a new pay-as-you-go metering solution for gas consumers.
- Assist in the development and delivery of renewable gas initiatives aligned with net-zero targets.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting to regulators, suppliers, and internal departments.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of gas transportation operations and regulatory frameworks.
- Promote a culture of compliance and innovation across the organisation.
- Support business modelling activities to inform investment decisions and regulatory reporting.
- Drive change through collaborative working and strategic influence
What you'll need to succeed
Essential:
- Degree in a business, legal, or analytical discipline
or
Significant experience in the gas/energy industry. - Proven experience in a commercial environment with project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office tools.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to influence and problem-solve.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver within deadlines.
- Knowledge of the Northern Ireland energy sector and its regulatory landscape.
- Experience with energy utility systems or prepayment platforms.
- Familiarity with MS Access and Visual Basic for Applications.
