Your new role

An opportunity has arisen for a Building Surveyor to join the Building Consultancy department in Birmingham. The team works with a broad range of investor clients, including commercial, retail and Investment clients, as well as corporate occupier clients such as banks.

The role is suited to an outward‑looking, versatile Building Surveyor who values teamwork and is driven to deliver excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertaking Building Surveyor inspections and preparing professional reports
  • Preparing specifications and administering repair and refurbishment contracts
  • Preparing and negotiating schedules of dilapidations and developing exit strategies
  • Producing planned preventative maintenance plans
  • Carrying out building reinstatement cost assessments
  • Assisting with the coordination of portfolio instructions and undertaking additional duties as reasonably required
  • Building and maintaining strong business relationships with internal and external clients, ensuring a consistently high standard of service
  • Travelling to sites as required

What you'll need to succeed

  • Required to have the ability to work within a team and on own initiative
  • Must be enthusiastic, proactive and self-motivated
  • Must have strong verbal and numerical skills, and be comfortable with report writing
  • Requires excellent time management and general organisational skills
  • Is required to be flexible and have the ability to work under pressure
  • Must be well presented and have excellent communication skills
  • MRICS (building surveying) with proven experience, preferably PQE in a commercial consultancy
  • Experience of AutoCAD an advantage
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Clean driving licence
