Adult Social Care Lawyer for Local Authority

Your new company
Join a team of specialist social care lawyers at a Council in Essex. This opportunity is available on an interim basis (initially 2-3 months, with potential for extension or conversion to permanent) or as a permanent position.

**Key details**
  • Remuneration: £55 per hour (PAYE) or £50,500 per annum
  • Weekly Hours: 37 hours per week
  • Working Arrangements: Hybrid, with two days per week in the office
  • Annual Leave: 36 days, including bank holidays
  • Start Date: ASAP

Your new role
As a Social Care Lawyer, you will handle a wide range of legal work related to social care matters. This includes making applications to the Court of Protection and High Court, providing detailed and accurate legal advice on the Council’s responsibilities under various acts and guidance (Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Health and Social Care Act, and Mental Health Act), and offering legal advice and support across areas such as ordinary residence, data protection, FOI, safeguarding, provider failure, section 117 aftercare, and 16-17 year old deprivation of liberty cases.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Qualification as a Solicitor with a current practising certificate
  • Several years’ PQE
  • Proven experience in a similar role within local government or relevant experience in private practice
  • In-depth knowledge of adult social care law
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to hit the ground running and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • A valid DBS check
