SENDCO. Coventry.

Your new company

Hays Education works with a range of Coventry schools looking for experienced and proactive SENCos to support their inclusion and SEND provision. Our partner schools include mainstream primaries and secondaries, specialist settings and academy trusts across the city. They’re looking for people who can step in confidently, pick things up quickly and make a positive impact. You’ll be joining schools with supportive leadership teams, established SEND departments and a strong focus on making sure every pupil gets the right support.

Your new role

As an interim SENCo with Hays, you’ll play an important part in maintaining and developing SEND provision. Depending on the school, your responsibilities may include:
  • Overseeing and coordinating SEND provision
  • Leading on EHCP processes, reviews and statutory requirements
  • Supporting teachers with differentiation, interventions and pupil progress
  • Managing and developing support staff
  • Working with external agencies, families and Coventry Local Authority teams
  • Ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice
  • Offering strategic support to SLT during periods of change or staffing gaps
Roles vary from short‑term cover to longer interim placements, with both full‑time and part‑time options available across Coventry.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong experience as a SENCo or senior SEND practitioner
  • NASENCo qualification (or willingness to work towards it)
  • Solid understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Confidence in leading staff and managing caseloads
  • The ability to adapt quickly and provide stability when needed

What you'll get in return

  • Competitive pay that reflects your teaching scale point.
  • Flexibility to choose the type of work that suits you, whether that’s day‑to‑day supply, short‑term cover or longer‑term placements.
  • Access to a broad range of professional development, including free CPD courses and webinars through the Hays learning platform.
  • Simple digital tools to manage timesheets, book holidays, access training and explore wellbeing resources through the Hays App.
  • Referral bonuses — earn £250 in vouchers when you refer a friend who completes 20 days of work with Hays.
  • Ongoing career support, including a complimentary CV review and guidance from your dedicated education consultant.
