Hays Education is working in partnership with a number of inclusive and supportive secondary schools across London. Due to increasing demand for specialist support, we are seeking dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants with experience supporting pupils with ADHD and/or Autism (ASD).

Your new role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with additional needs to access the curriculum and thrive within a secondary school environment.
This role will involve both 1:1 support and working with small groups, helping students manage their learning, behaviour, and emotional needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting students with ADHD and/or ASD in lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Implementing strategies to support attention, engagement, and emotional regulation
  • Assisting with differentiated learning activities tailored to individual needs
  • Supporting behaviour management using positive and consistent approaches
  • Promoting a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to support student progress


What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will:
  • Have experience supporting young people with ADHD and/or Autism (ASD)
  • Be patient, resilient, and empathetic in your approach
  • Demonstrate strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Have excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Be adaptable and confident working in a secondary school setting
  • Hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS check
Experience in schools, youth work, care settings, or psychology-related roles is highly desirable.
