Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join a well-established special secondary school in the Tameside area. This full-time role is to start immediately and will run through the academic year, with the potential for a permanent contract for the right candidate. You will be working closely with pupils aged 11–19 who have a range of complex learning needs, including autism spectrum conditions, moderate to severe learning difficulties, and physical or sensory impairments. The role involves supporting students both in small groups and on a one-to-one basis, helping them access a broad and engaging curriculum tailored to their individual needs. You’ll work alongside experienced teaching staff and therapists in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

What You'll Need to Succeed
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND, ideally in an educational setting
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach to supporting pupils with additional needs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for inclusive education and making a difference
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for one through Hays)
- Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant certificate or training in autism awareness, Makaton, or Team Teach would be advantageous but not essential.
