SEND Teaching Assistant Level 1 – Tameside – Full-Time – Temporary with the Potential to Become Permanent

Your New Job
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant Level 1 to join a thriving special primary school in Tameside. You will support pupils aged 4–11, all of whom have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and present with complex learning difficulties and autism, or are on the pathway to diagnosis. Your role will involve:
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support
  • Assisting with personalised learning plans
  • Promoting emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour
  • Supporting pupils’ physical, social and emotional development
  • Engaging in outdoor activities in all weather conditions

  • Physically strong and resilient
  • Calm, patient, and able to manage challenging behaviour
  • Kind, caring, and passionate about SEND education
  • Flexible, reliable, and able to work effectively in a team
  • Knowledgeable about safeguarding practices
  • Experienced (or willing to gain experience) in supporting children with autism and complex needs
  • Experience in a school or care setting is desirable but not essential. A willingness to undertake training such as Team Teach and safeguarding is required.
