You will work with pupils aged 7–16 with a range of needs including autism, ADHD, SEMH, dyspraxia, dyslexia, attachment and trauma. Your role will involve supporting students in the classroom, delivering tailored interventions, and helping them to access a broad and ambitious curriculum. You will also contribute to outdoor learning, enrichment activities, and therapeutic programmes.

Your New Company
This specialist small residential school is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and is known for its nurturing, therapeutic approach. The school supports children who have often experienced significant challenges in previous educational settings, including long periods out of school. Pupils benefit from a bespoke environment, a multidisciplinary team (including clinical and educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists), and a curriculum designed to maximise each individual’s potential.
The school offers:
  • A healthy, happy, and safe environment where pupils are supported to thrive and develop self-esteem
  • High expectations for all, with a focus on building confidence, resilience, and independence
  • A wide range of academic and vocational qualifications, including Functional Skills, GCSEs, and ASDAN
  • Extensive outdoor education, including fell-walking, orienteering, horticulture, and performing arts
  • A strong emphasis on personal development, wellbeing, and preparation for adulthood
  • Staff are well-trained in trauma-informed practice and work closely with families and external agencies to break the cycle of adversity and support positive outcomes for every child
What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, autism, SEMH, or associated needs
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle
What You'll Get in Return
  • Competitive daily pay rates through Hays Education
  • Access to free CPD training, safeguarding updates, and career development opportunities
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated SEND recruitment consultant
  • The chance to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children and young people
  • Opportunity to work in a supportive, inclusive, and forward-thinking school environment
