Teaching Assistant Job Available at Complex SEND Primary School in Tameside

Hays are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join the team at a specialist SEND Primary School in Tameside. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including moderate learning difficulties, autism spectrum conditions, and complex communication needs. You’ll work closely with class teachers and the wider support team to deliver tailored interventions, promote independence, and create a nurturing learning environment. This is a full-time, long-term role with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

You’ll be joining a well-established special school that caters to children aged 4–11 with a wide spectrum of SEND. The school is part of a respected multi-academy trust and is known for its inclusive ethos, therapeutic curriculum, and commitment to “creating meaningful futures” for every pupil. With a strong emphasis on personalised learning pathways, the school provides a supportive and innovative environment for both staff and students. Facilities are modern and purpose-built, including sensory rooms, outdoor learning spaces, and specialist therapy areas.

Location: Tameside
Rate: Up to £125/day
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term Temporary (with the potential for permanent placement)
Start Date: ASAP

Key Skills/Experience
  • Experience working with children with SEND, ideally in a school or care setting
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Any relevant qualifications are beneficial, but not essential
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one through Hays)
