SEND Teaching Assistant | Preston | Start ASAP | Long-Term
Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? Do you have experience working in a high school setting and want to make a real difference in students’ lives?
Hays Education are working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in Preston to recruit a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately. This is a long-term, ongoing role with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
Your new role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to students with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges. You will work both one-to-one and in small groups, assisting students in accessing the curriculum and adapting lesson materials to suit individual learning needs.
Your role will involve implementing individual support plans, promoting positive behaviour, and using de-escalation strategies when necessary. You’ll also help monitor and record student progress, contribute to review meetings, and liaise with parents and external professionals. Additionally, you’ll support students during unstructured times such as breaks and lunchtimes, encourage social interaction and inclusion, and help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every student can thrive.
