SEND Specialist Support Assistant – Immediate Start or Post-Half Term | £95–£115 per day | Long-Term Opportunity | Tameside Area
Location: Tameside, Greater Manchester
Salary: £95 – £115 per day (dependent on experience)

Hays Education is working in partnership with a vibrant and inclusive specialist secondary school in the Tameside area, which caters for pupils aged 11–16 with a range of complex learning needs, including moderate learning difficulties (MLD), autism spectrum conditions (ASC), and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. The school is known for its nurturing environment, strong leadership, and commitment to personalised learning. We are seeking a SEND Specialist Support Assistant to join their dedicated team on a full-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to build a career in special education, with the potential for a permanent role for the right candidate.
About the Role:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of SEND needs
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and social interaction
- Help create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents/carers
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND (in school, care, or youth settings)
- A calm, patient, and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
- A DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one through Hays
