SEND Manager – Special School | Tameside | Hays Education
Job Title: SEND Manager
Location: Tameside, Greater Manchester
Salary: Competitive – Based on experience
Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary
Start Date: September 2025

Your New Company
Hays Education is working in partnership with a well-regarded special school in Tameside to recruit an experienced SEND Manager. The school caters for pupils aged 4–16 with a wide range of complex learning needs, including autism spectrum conditions, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. The school is known for its nurturing ethos, strong multi-agency collaboration, and commitment to personalised learning pathways. Set in a modern, purpose-built facility, the school offers a highly inclusive environment where pupils are supported through a combination of therapeutic interventions, tailored curriculum access, and structured routines. Staff work closely with families and external professionals to ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive both academically and emotionally.

Your New Role
As SEND Manager, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating the school’s provision for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The primary responsibility will be to organise and attend annual reviews for children, ensuring all statutory requirements are met and that the voice of the child and family is central to the process. You will also be responsible for completing the associated paperwork, liaising with local authorities, and maintaining accurate records. This is a key leadership role within the school’s inclusion team, and we are seeking someone with relevant experience who can quickly step into the role and provide continuity for pupils and families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the annual review process for pupils with EHCPs
  • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and submitted within statutory timeframes
  • Liaise with parents, carers, external agencies, and local authority SEND teams
  • Maintain and update EHCP records and pupil profiles
  • Support staff in implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
  • Contribute to strategic planning around SEND provision and pupil outcomes
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and support strategies
What We’re Looking For:
  • Proven experience in a SEND leadership or coordination role, ideally within a special school or inclusive mainstream setting
  • Strong understanding of EHCP processes and SEND legislation
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with families and professionals
  • A proactive, empathetic, and solution-focused approach
  • Relevant qualifications in education, SEND, or inclusion (e.g. NASENCO, Level 3/4 in SEND)
Why Work With Hays Education?
  • Competitive rates of pay
  • Access to professional development and training
  • Dedicated support from your local Hays consultant
  • Opportunities for long-term and permanent roles
  • Make a meaningful impact in a specialist educational setting
  • £250 for every successful referral
