Your new school

Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Dudley/Oldbury area, committed to supporting all pupils to achieve their full potential. The school has a strong focus on high-quality SEND provision, inclusive practice and staff development. This is a one-year contract, starting in September.

Your new role

They are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant SENCo to support the leadership and delivery of SEND provision across the school. You will work closely with the Deputy Head (Inclusion/SENCo) to ensure high-quality teaching, effective interventions and positive outcomes for pupils with SEND, including those with SEMH and pastoral needs.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the strategic and day-to-day management of SEND provision
  • Leading and delivering targeted interventions and monitoring pupil progress
  • Supporting teachers and staff to implement effective inclusive practice
  • Assisting with EHCPs, learning plans and the school provision map
  • Working collaboratively with staff, parents and external agencies
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Providing direct support to pupils, including those with SEMH and additional needs

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience working with pupils with SEND, including SEMH needs
  • Proven experience delivering and leading interventions
  • Strong understanding of EHCPs, SEND Code of Practice and inclusive education
  • Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead, support and motivate staff
  • A compassionate, patient and adaptable approach
  • Degree-level qualification (or equivalent)
  • Strong ICT skills to support learning and track progress
