SENCo – Secondary (Immediate Start)
A well‑established secondary school in Birmingham is seeking an experienced and committed Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) for an immediate start. This vacancy is being managed on a strictly confidential basis.
This is an opportunity for a skilled SENCo to lead high‑quality SEND provision within a busy secondary setting and make a measurable impact on pupil outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage SEND provision across Key Stages 3–5
- Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice (2015)
- Oversee EHCPs, annual reviews, and SEN support plans
- Work closely with teaching staff to embed inclusive practice
- Liaise effectively with parents, external professionals, and local authority services
- Track progress and intervention impact for pupils with SEND
- Support transition arrangements and behaviour or pastoral strategies where required
Person Specification
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
- Recent and relevant SENCo experience in a secondary setting – essential
- NASENCO qualification (or currently working towards) – desirable
- Strong working knowledge of secondary curriculum access and differentiation
- Clear understanding of safeguarding and statutory responsibilities
- Available to start immediately or at short notice
Vetting & Safeguarding
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Hold an Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service)
- Provide satisfactory references
- Complete all pre‑employment and safeguarding checks
- Have the right to work in the UK
