Roles are available for both short term and long term placements.
Your new role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs within mainstream primary classrooms. You may work on a 1:1 basis, lead small intervention groups, or support the class teacher in promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment. The needs of each child or class will vary, giving you the opportunity to make a meaningful difference across a range of school settings.
This is an ideal role for someone who is patient, resilient, proactive and passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning while thriving in mainstream education.
We can offer:
- Same day cover and pre-booked assignments
- Full day or half day roles (AM or PM)
- Daily and short term supply
- Long term placements lasting from 2 weeks to the remainder of the academic year
We’ll work closely with you to match your SEN experience and personal strengths to the right mainstream primary settings.
What you'll need to succeed
- Ideally a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, as many mainstream primary SEN roles require this
- However, we also encourage strong applicants with recent, referenceable experience supporting children with SEN in a UK primary school
- Experience or confidence working with children with SEN such as SEMH, ASC, communication needs or learning difficulties
- Strong communication, patience and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships
- A proactive approach to inclusion and supporting children’s wellbeing and progress
- A DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
What you'll get in return
- Flexible working options to suit your lifestyle
- Competitive daily pay
- Choice of PAYE or Umbrella payroll
- Support from a dedicated Hays consultant with 18 years’ experience in primary and SEN recruitment
- Access to FREE CPD and SEN focused training
- A wide variety of rewarding roles across mainstream primary schools in Telford
