SEN Teaching Assistant Required

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN/SEMH school in Wigan. The successful candidate will support pupils with a range of complex needs, including autism, ADHD, trauma-related behaviours, and other learning difficulties. You will work closely with class teachers and the wider pastoral team to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and achieving their learning goals.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support.
  • Help prepare learning materials and classroom resources.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
  • Contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing practices within the school.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH needs (preferred).
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
