SEN Teaching Assistant St Helens

We are currently seeking a caring, committed, and enthusiastic individual to join a supportive school team in St Helens as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children who require additional support in their learning journey.

The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who have a range of special educational needs, providing tailored support to help them access the curriculum and thrive both academically and socially. You will assist the class teacher in creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, and play a key role in helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and essential life skills.

While a Level 2 qualification in Childcare or Teaching Assistance is desirable, it is not essential. We welcome applications from individuals with relevant experience, a strong understanding of SEN, and a genuine desire to support children with additional needs. Patience, empathy, and adaptability are essential qualities for this role, along with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the individual needs of children.
  • The ability to build trusting relationships and encourage pupil confidence.
  • Experience working with children in an educational or care setting is highly desirable.
  • A Level 2 qualification in Childcare or Teaching Assistance is beneficial but not essential.
