Runcorn. 1:1 SEN support in reception class. Long-term full-time temporary contract until end of academic year

Your new company

Hays Recruitment is proud to be supporting an extremely supportive and inclusive single-form entry primary school in Runcorn that is easily accessible via public transport as they require a motivated and experienced teaching assistant to support a pupil with ASD and behavioural needs on a 1:1 basis. This is an extremely exciting long-term opportunity that will last the rest of the academic year, where you will play an integral part in the education and development of a young male pupil that has recently joined the school.

This pupil has joined the reception class and is extremely loving but has been struggling to integrate and access the curriculum. You will work in collaboration with the class teacher and SENCO to plan, prepare and deliver comprehensive interventions to support this pupil's emotional and behavioural development, and tailor the curriculum to his needs. Other duties will include:

  • Direct liaison with parents/guardian on pupil progress and further requirements
  • Implementing an array of positive behaviour strategies that your pupil best responds to
  • Integrating your pupil into new pupil groups
  • Supporting your pupil during break and lunchtime

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check, have relevant referenceable classroom experience, and:

  • Have experience supporting pupils with SEN
  • Have good knowledge of the EYFS national curriculum
  • Be willing to commit to a full-time contract consisting of 32.5 hours per week
  • Having an NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential

What you'll get in return

If you are successful in your application, you will receive the full support, dedication and guidance of a senior DfE accredited recruitment consultant, as well as a wide range of benefits that include:

  • Free training
  • Upfront cost of DBS covered
  • Long-term contract
  • Company pension scheme
  • Competitive rate of pay
  • Full holiday entitlement
  • Access to exclusive vacancies
  • Refer a Friend scheme
