Your new company

Hays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with an extremely welcoming and supportive two-form entry primary school in Runcorn as they require a motivated and reliable teaching assistant to support pupils with SEN (special educational needs) across the reception and KS1 classes. This is a long-term full-time contract of 32.5 hours per week that will consist of 1:1 support on a timetabled basis.


Your new role

In your new role as a teaching assistant, you will be offering 1:1 support to pupils with SEN across the reception and KS1 classes. In total, you will be supporting 7 pupils on a timetabled basis that all have similar needs in terms of diagnosis (predominately ASD and non-verbal with 2 pupils requiring personal care) but drastically different personalities. You will take a pupil-centred approach to their support as to ensure that their individual needs and personalities are met and accounted for. Your duties will differ depending on the pupil you are supporting as their EHCP's due vary, but generally they will consist of speech and language interventions, including the use of PECs, Makaton and Now and Next, implementation of behaviour strategies i.e., sensory play, sensory therapy and positive reinforcement. You will accurately track your pupils' progress and as they hit key milestones you will integrate them into new pupil groups.


What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as recent referenceable classroom experience, as well as:

  • Experience supporting ASD and/or non-verbal
  • Experience delivering speech and language interventions
  • Be able to commit to a full-time long-term contract
