Hays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a Northwich-based specialist SEND school that supports pupils with complex and profound needs from EYFS - KS2. This is an extremely supportive and inclusive school with a highly experienced teaching and senior leadership team that are looking for a number of motivated and reliable teaching assistants to join their team on a full-time temporary to permanent basis. This school is considering applications from experienced SEN teaching assistants and those looking to transition to the classroom from a residential environment.

As a teaching assistant within this school you will offer comprehensive 1:1 support across the school on both a required and timetabled basis. You will work in collaboration with teaching staff and external professionals such as educational psychologists and speech and language therapists. Your core duties will include but will not be limited to:
  • Social independence skills across KS2
  • Makaton and PECs
  • Implementing positive behaviour strategies: sensory rooms, sensory therapy, traffic light systems, movement breaks, etc
  • Personal/intimate care across EYFS and KS1
  • Assisting with mobility
  • Pupil lead curriculum

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS Check, and:

  • Have recent referenceable experience supporting children with profound needs in classroom or residential environments.
  • Experience using Makaton and/or PECs
  • Experience supporting ASD, LD, PMLD, non-verbal or SEMH
  • Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract (32.5 hours per week)
