Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting Northwich-based SEND school that supports pupils between the ages of 4 - 11 as they require motivated and reliable SEN teaching assistants to support pupils across the school on a 1:1 basis. This school is looking for a number of teaching assistants for long-term full-time contracts with hours consisting of 8:30am - 3pm.


Your new role

As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting pupils with a variety of complex and profound needs including ASD, LD, non-verbal, PDA, behavioural needs, mobility needs, downs syndrome and more. You will play an integral part of your new pupils education, adapting your approach to best suit their needs and EHCP's. You will support the class teachers and other core staff members in the delivering of inclusive and accessible lessons by taking a pupil-centred approach to education and utilising an array of learning material. You will offer 1:1 support across the school, with duties typically consisting of:

  • Speech and language interventions/therapy
  • Positive behaviour strategies: sensory play/therapy, movement breaks, brain breaks, traffic light systems, etc
  • Makaton and PECs

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as recent referenceable classroom experience, and:

  • Experience supporting SEN (special educational needs)
  • Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract
