SEN Teaching Assistant – Emersons Green, Bristol

A welcoming primary school in Emersons Green is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide focused 1:1 support. This role is ideal for someone with strong SEN experience who is passionate about helping pupils access learning in a supportive, structured environment.

Role Overview

• Provide consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with additional learning needs
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised strategies
• Encourage engagement, confidence and emotional regulation
• Support classroom routines, transitions and small‑group work

Candidate Profile

• Previous SEN experience is essential
• Calm, patient and adaptable approach
• Strong communication and rapport‑building skills
• Level 2/3 TA qualification advantageous
• Driving licence beneficial

• SEN training highly valued, including:
• Understanding Autism
• ADHD Awareness
• Team Teach / De‑escalation Training
• Trauma‑Informed Practice
• BSL or communication‑based training
• Makaton (highly desirable for supporting communication needs)
