Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a well-established SEND school in Halton as they require an experienced and motivated teaching assistant to offer comprehensive support to pupils across EYFS and KS1 on a 1:1 basis. This is a long-term full-time contract with an extremely inclusive and supportive school that may look to appoint the right individual on a permanent basis after an intal temporary contract.
Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will offer comprehensive 1:1 support to pupils across EYFS and KS1 that have low functioning needs. You will plan, prepare and implement speech and language interventions, adapting said interventions to best suit pupil individual needs, ability and routines. You will accurately record and maintain progress records and directly liaise with teachers and the SENCo on their progress, including recognising key milestones. You will utilise an array of learning equipment to aid in the development of your pupils' speech and language, including emotion cards, PECs, Makaton and visual references. As well as delivering bespoke SALT you will also aid in behaviour management, implementing an array of positive behaviour strategies that best suit pupils' individual responses. These will include bucket therapy, pressure therapy, movement breaks, sensory play, sensory stimuli, etc.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, undergo a full enhanced DBS check, have relevant referenceable experience, and:
- Experience planning, preparing and delivering speech and language interventions
- Experience supporting SEN
- An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous
