Your new role

Your New Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key role in helping students access learning, build confidence, and develop independence. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one‑to‑one support tailored to individual needs
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of EHCPs
  • Supporting small groups and reinforcing learning in creative, engaging ways
  • Encouraging social skills, emotional regulation, and independence
  • Working closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals
  • Keeping accurate records of progress and sharing updates with staff and families

    This role is perfect for someone who is calm, adaptable, and genuinely enjoys helping children overcome challenges and celebrate their successes.

    What you'll need to succeed

  • Experienced in teaching children with SEN, ideally within a primary or middle school setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, compassionate, and positive approach
  • Confident in using positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Skilled at differentiating lessons and using creative approaches to engage diverse learners.
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Comfortable teaching pupils up to age 18 and adapting lessons to suit varying developmental stages.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a supportive team
