Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Horsham
Salary: From £90 a day
Job Type: Temporary

Do you believe every child deserves someone in their corner cheering them on?

If you’re patient, caring, and passionate about helping children overcome challenges, this Horsham SEN school would love to meet you. We’re looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant who wants to make a real difference every single day.

About the School

This is a warm, community‑driven school where relationships matter, and every child is known as an individual. The staff team is friendly, supportive, and passionate about creating a learning environment where students with additional needs feel safe, valued, and empowered.
The school has invested heavily in its SEN provision, offering well‑equipped spaces, a forward‑thinking leadership team, and a culture that celebrates progress in all its forms, big or small. If you’re someone who thrives in a collaborative, positive environment, you’ll feel right at home here.

Your New Role

This role is all about connection, encouragement, and consistency. You’ll be the steady presence that helps students navigate their day and unlock their potential. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one support tailored to individual needs
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of EHCPs
  • Supporting small groups to build confidence and reinforce learning
  • Encouraging independence, resilience, and social development
  • Working closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals
  • Keeping clear, accurate records of progress and sharing updates with staff and families
  • No two days will look the same, and that’s part of what makes this role so rewarding.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Experience supporting students with special educational needs, or a strong desire to learn
  • A relevant qualification in education or SEND, or the experience to match
  • Excellent communication skills and a calm, compassionate approach
  • Patience, positivity, and a genuine passion for helping children grow
  • The ability to work as part of a supportive, committed team

What You’ll Get in Return

You’ll be joining a school that values its staff and invests in their development. You’ll also receive ongoing support from a specialist education consultant, plus access to free, up‑to‑date training to help you grow in your career.
And if you know someone else who’d be a great fit for a role in education, you can earn £250 in vouchers for every successful referral to Hays Education.* Terms and conditions apply.
