SEN Teaching Assistant – Focus on Complex Needs and ASD

Your new role

SEN Teaching Assistant – Focus on Complex Needs and ASD Start Date: 1st September Hours: 08:30am to 04:30pm, Monday to Friday Contract Type: Permanent (following 12-week supported induction)

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive education team. This role is specifically designed to support learners with a wide range of complex needs and autism spectrum conditions. You’ll be working closely with students to help them access learning, develop independence, and build meaningful connections within the college community.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Proven track record supporting individuals with autism and complex SEN needs
  • Strong understanding of inclusive learning approaches and person-centred support
  • Ability to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours with confidence and empathy
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including experience working with families and external professionals
  • Experience with adaptive technologies and structured communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton, AAC) is desirable.
  • Background in education, psychology, or health and social care is preferred.
  • Must have full UK work rights – sponsorship is not available
Training and Onboarding
  • 12-week mentoring programme with full support
  • Two CPD and induction days on 27 and 28 August to equip you with essential tools and insight
  • Attendance required at Open Morning on 20 August at 10:00am for campus tour and role overview
